If you’re a high school woodshop teacher looking for ideas, or a student that just can’t decide what to build, let me tell you there are a about a gazillion plans out there. Some are excellent, some are pretty poor, but one thing’s for sure – it can take a lot of time to locate the good ones. You can spend a lot of money on woodshop projects and plans, but you really don’t have to.

Finally, once you’ve gotten all of that sorted out, then all you need to do is to pick out your tools and workbenches from the hardware store. The best workbenches to start out with are solid, sturdy traditional woodworking benches – they’re extremely durable and won’t need replacing for years to come.

2. Is there an overall picture of the finished product? In order to get a good idea of what the completed project will look like and how it is assembled there should be at least three views of the project. These would be the top, side, and end views. And are these views projected (lined up) so that they can be scaled and visualized during the construction?

My answer is always that I follow the woodshop projects plans exactly as they are laid out. Without the guidance of these plans, I really do not think that any of the woodshop projects that I have built would have turned out to be as professional looking as they are.

Make sure that the online woodworking plans have recommendations and comparisons, so you can me an educated decision on what to buy.
